‘Colonel Cocody’ (2006).
Articulate in 3 pieces : snapshots, portraits and still-life.

It’s the pictured story of an old sir, surrounded by his souvenirs from Africa. By his objects he lives perpetually through a part of his past. His memories picture themselves with these relics of the 50’s and 60’s : tusks, giraffe skin sofa and thousands of B&W pictures. An existence made by piles of souvenirs allow him to relive and to evoke his personnal legends.

Is time a perpetual present ?

According to a point of view, the atmosphere of the space is caught with a multitude of details. These details could go unnoticed but their influence is enormous because the place of these wished objects allows to invent a context. This environement is a compostion of which we underlign some elements that bring the myth and the story of their owner.

The small space of display of these souvenirs (shelves, buffet, tables) are podiums, devices of presentation, stages. The podium and the frame of photography are markers which allow to unlight the organization of objects. These objects are set up and arranged according to what comes to unite them and to move closer by giving them some value or preciosity, so that could appear in a much precise way. By framing, by creating a defined image, we try to surround the displays, these ‘already displayed still life’ to increase their visibility
